Anders
Lewendal comes to custom homebuilding with
an excellent background. Along with working as a journeyman carpenter in the San Francisco
Bay area in the mid-80s, he has a degree in Business Economics (1982) from the University
of California. That economic training is reflected in his strong adherence to budgets. Clients
regularly praise Anders for his setting budgetary agreements, and
for continuously communicating with them about budgetary constraints and
choices. Similarly, Anders creates timelines that guide client expectations
for each of his projects. He is regularly congratulated for being "on-time and on-budget."
Anders also has an eye for quality design and craftsmanship. He says, "My business
in Bozeman seeks out those special clients who want a very high quality home." He often designs
projects for his clients, spending long hours with them at a CAD station. That personal touch
helps clients get exactly what they want, plus helps the project move toward success by allowing
the homeowner and builder to get to know each other. (Anders, of course, also works with
plans clients bring to him from other designers and architects.) He specializes in seeing
fine details, and regularly talks to clients about small enhancements that add little or no
cost, but only become recognizable as the construction process progresses.
Anders is committed to long-lasting, quality construction, both
in design and in environmental friendliness. As Anders says, "We consistently produce interior
and exterior details which stand the test of time and remain appealing to the eye for many
years. We strongly believe if our limited resources must be used, those resources
must be
joined together to produce a lifetime of service, and then some. We use products in the
homes I build that offer longevity, ease of use in both installation and
maintenance, and a high recycled content if possible."

Marilyn de Kleer is a real estate agent who
sells land and many builders' homes throughout Gallatin County, plus specializes in
Anders Lewendal Construction homes. Marilyn has her brokers license, her Graduate
Realtors Institute (GRI) certification, and is a Certified
Residential Specialist (CRS).
Marilyn loves interacting with and being of service to her clients. "I love sales," she
says with heartfelt enthusiasm. "And I'm good at sales when I know I'm selling something
I really believe in, and I really believe in Anders Lewendal Construction."
Marilyn worked as a special ed teacher for 10 years before she and Anders started their
family. By the couple's design, she became a full-time, stay-at-home mom at about the same
time they moved from California to Montana. Later, when Anders began selling spec homes
through local real estate agents, he asked Marilyn, "Why don't you sell for us? You
know me, you know construction, you have a great
personality for it!" And so the idea was
born, and when the couple's youngest child Brecken
entered first grade, Marilyn began to
pursue what has become a successful career in real estate.
Marilyn is Anders most enthusiastic supporter. "I'm so proud to be representing Anders,"
she says, "because I think--and very many other people think--that he has the best reputation
and is one of the best builders in Bozeman. And so I'm just very proud to be a part of
that. He has the highest morals and values and
is just very honest. And he has helped me in my business
because of his integrity and advice."
Marilyn adds another interesting note: "Anders' service is
incredible, including after market. He
has such confidence in what he does, he'll live next to you [indeed
the couple lives in Sundance
Springs, where 15 of Anders' homes are built]. He's not going anywhere. He is here, and
also if you talk to him he'll tell you, 'I want to leave something behind that is worthwhile,
that is going to last 100 years. I want my grandkids
to see what we have built.'"
Marilyn concludes by saying, "We're here probably
'til we die, whether its as full time
residents later or not." That love of Bozeman, in part, stems from the family's love
of the recreational opportunities in Bozeman. "We're involved year-round with hiking,
camping, swimming, snowboarding, and cross country
skiing."
